EARLY IN THE PROCESS
Schedule use of the laptops at least once a week.
When working on your lesson plans, think about
technology, and how it can enhance or expand what
you are teaching.
Try to use technology in your teaching at least
once a week - share a website with the kids, create
a lesson to present to the students using software
they use (Powerpoint, Inspiration, Picasa, etc.)
MOVING ON
Whenever possible, technology should be used only
when needed to teach, enhance, expand and / or
remediate the curriculum. Schedule laptops when you
need it.
In K-1 students really need consistent use of
technology to become proficient. It helps to use
the technology 2-3 times a week if possible.
In 2-3, students can better adapt to not having a
regular schedule and using technology when it is
needed. This might mean, using it everyday for a
week, then not using it for a couple of weeks.
In 4-5, as laptops are used more, they tend to be
used with smaller groups of students in the class
when needed rather than the entire class at the
same time. Having access to laptops as often as
possible is important for students to use when
needed.
