Standards: Life Science Animals - Food, Habitat, Characteristics

Need: Projection device (optional), laptops, internet connection, wikispace page for each group

Students work in groups of 3-4. Assign a role to each student in a group: Name and characteristics, Food, Habitat, Two Other Important Facts

Day 1: Have each group use one computer to start with. Have them read through the information together. They should discuss the information with each other. They each should write 1-3 sentences about their animal based on the role they are assigned. Teachers check and correct writing as needed.

Day 2: Each student gets their own laptop. They log into their group's wikispace page. (See http://shslions.wikispaces.com/ for a sample.) Students click on the Edit This Page button. They type their information next to the question for their role. They click Save.

Optional Activities: Assist students with inserting a picture of their animal on to their wikispaces page. Have the students do an oral presentation, with the wikispace page projected. Share site with parents.
