Standards: Phonetic Awareness, Decoding, Word Recognition, Reading Comprehension

Need: Projection device (e.g. LCD Projector), laptops, internet connection, headphones

Together with the class (before using laptops), go to www.starfall.com. Click on Learn to Read. Click on the Alphabet Movie (next to Zac the Rat) and watch as a class. Read the book Zac the Rat together as a class. Play the at, an game as a class.

Each student gets their laptop and headphones. Student go to www.starfall.com. (If possible bookmark ahead of time.) Click on Learn to read. Students will individually do the same tasks as above (watch movie, read story, do activities) using the second story of Peg the Hen. They will then work with a partner and talk about the story and work on the activity together.
